—  About

From drawings to buildings, that was André Boettcher's impulse to study architecture at
the Bauhaus in Dessau in 2010. After completing his studies, the Magdeburg native moved
to Hamburg, where he was able to live up to his passion - architectural photography - and
still can today. For 3 years now, the son of two civil engineers, has been taking
photographs of architecture in various cities. Inspired by the minimalistic, clear and
structured Bauhaus style, his photographs show only the essentials: the appearance of the
buildings themselves. He intentionally fades out environmental phenomena. His motifs are
in the balancing act between contemporary, modern, urban architecture as well as
abandoned places and buildings that tell their own individual story. Already in 2015 André
Boettcher exhibited his impressions of abandoned places in eastern Germany at the
"Artbat-Festival" in Almaty, Kazakhstan. With his current series "Almost Paradise" he makes
his way to London and takes the exhibition visitors on a journey to an abandoned
swimming pool in Elliniko.
